Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Development Engineer to lead automation software for compute and bare metal infrastructure in Seattle. You will influence cross-team design, build scalable, reliable systems, and drive fleet performance across the AWS storage stack.

The role requires deep experience across software and hardware, strong debugging and leadership skills, and a track record of delivering high-quality infrastructure at scale within AWS.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby experience.
• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• 5+ years of systems development in an IT or data center environment experience.
• 5+ years of deploying and operating in a Linux/Unix environment experience.
• 5+ years of systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement experience.
• Experience leading the design, build and deployment of complex and performant software solutions in production.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural problem solving across software and hardware teams for scalable platform solutions.
• Manage a mix of software and system engineers pushing technology envelope to design and validate products at scale.
• Oversee platform development, test content, and telemetry to monitor fleet performance.
• Standardize testing and maintain healthy vendor relationships to stay ahead of the curve.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable deployment and operations.
