Job summary

Metrea is hiring a software engineer to build the systems behind our edge sensing and secure-communications products. You’ll write production code, design services, and run data pipelines on constrained Linux devices in the field.

You’ll own problems end-to-end—from requirements to shipped, tested code—working with teams across software, networking, and wireless to deliver integrated solutions.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Rust, Python, and Bash.
• Experience building backend, systems, or distributed software.
• Strong networking fundamentals and Linux expertise.

Responsibilities

• Write production Rust for real-time data ingestion, processing, and device control.
• Design and build modular services and APIs spanning edge devices and backend infrastructure.
• Build data pipelines that feed analysis and automation.
• Integrate software with network stacks, wireless tooling, and external data sources.
• Implement automation frameworks—rule-based workflows, triggers, and orchestration.
• Deploy and tune software on resource-constrained Linux systems and debug issues.
• Prototype quickly and iterate as requirements evolve.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and field teams to make the whole system work as one.
