Job summary

Clayton is seeking an Edge Band Operator to join our Production team in Alabama. You will operate edge banding machinery to apply PVC, ABS, or wood veneer edging to MDF and laminate panels, ensuring high-quality finishes for cabinetry and furniture.

Responsibilities include setting up parameters, reading shop drawings, inspecting finished panels, and performing routine maintenance. Candidates should have 1–2 years of edge banding experience and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school education preferred.
• 1–2 years experience operating edge banding machinery with MDF and laminate materials.
• Familiarity with edge banding machines (Homag, Biesse) and gluing systems (EVA, PUR).
• Ability to read shop drawings and use measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, squares).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects or quality issues.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor edge banding machines to apply PVC, ABS, or wood veneer edging to MDF and laminate panels.
• Set up machine parameters (temperature, feed speed, glue) for MDF/laminate processing.
• Read production drawings, cut lists, and job orders to determine specifications.
• Inspect panels before and after edge banding for chips, delamination, misalignment, or glue overflow.
• Perform basic maintenance on edge banders (cleaning glue pots, adjusting cutters, replacing trimmers).
• Ensure consistent edge adhesion and clean, finished edges on MDF/laminate pieces.
