Job summary

Clayton Edge Band Operator position in our Production department seeks a dependable operator with MDF/laminate experience. You will run edge banding machinery to apply edging to panels, set up parameters, and inspect finished pieces for quality.

Responsibilities include reading shop drawings, maintaining machines, and ensuring safety and cleanliness on the shop floor. Team collaboration and timely production are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school preferred.
• 1–2 years experience operating edge banding machinery with MDF/laminate materials.
• Familiarity with edge banding machines (Homag/Biesse) and EVA/PUR gluing systems.
• Ability to read shop drawings and use measuring tools.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects or quality issues.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor edge banding machines to apply PVC, ABS, or wood veneer edging to MDF and laminate panels.
• Set up machine parameters (temperature, feed speed, glue) for MDF/laminate processing.
• Read and interpret production drawings, cut lists, and job orders.
• Inspect panels before and after edge banding for chips, delamination, misalignment, or glue overflow.
• Perform basic maintenance on edge banders (cleaning glue pots, adjusting cutters, replacing trimmers).
• Ensure consistent edge adhesion and clean, finished edges on all MDF/laminate pieces.
• Keep work area clean and follow safety procedures and production standards.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors to meet production timelines.
