Job summary

Day Kimball Health in Putnam, CT, seeks a Unit Receptionist/Patient Care Technician (Per Diem, all shifts) for the Emergency Department. The role supports clerical duties, patient management at the front desk, and assist with basic patient care under nurse direction.

Responsibilities include assisting with ADLs, vitals, and transporting patients, while maintaining safety and communication within the team. A culture of teamwork and professional growth is emphasized.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical terminology and keyboarding skills preferred.
• Upon hire, a current CNA certification, or completion of one year of clinical experience in an accredited RN nursing program, or EMT-B, or equivalent required.
• Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire required.
• Current NVCIT certification or within 3 months of hire required.
• Must work a minimum of 32 hours.

Responsibilities

• Meets the physical demands of the position.
• Demonstrates ability to cope with and function under stress.
• Meets skill certification requirements for designated units.
• Remain alert and in visual contact with the patient at all times.
• Assist the patient in daily activities as directed by the nurse.
• Assist the nurse in restraining and removing restraints.
• Completes all necessary forms, requisitions, communications and special projects as assigned.
• Assists patients and nurses as necessary with ADL, Vital Signs, and patient Plan of Care.
