Island Health is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to join the ED team in Anacortes, WA. The role combines nursing assistant and EMT functions with unit coordination duties, supporting nurses and physicians in delivering high‑quality patient care.

The ED Tech will perform patient transport, vital sign monitoring, point‑of‑care testing, and clerical tasks, while maintaining a compassionate, professional demeanor under pressure.

Formación

• Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (NA-C) course of study or EMT Basic level or higher.
• Current NA-C or Washington State EMT Certification. Either must be actively registered with the Washington State Department of Health.
• Current Basic Life Support Certification.
• One year of Emergency Department or ambulance experience strongly preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Provide direct patient care and clerical support in the Emergency Department under RN and physician supervision.
• Transport patients and document vitals; operate basic monitoring equipment and assist with procedures.
• Register ED patients and communicate clearly with physicians, nurses, and families.
• Maintain room cleanliness, supply levels, and equipment; assist with echocardiograms and other tests as needed.
• Coordinate with external partners for patient care and arrange inpatient/outpatient exams when appropriate.
