Job summary

Island Health is seeking an Emergency Department Technician for the Anacortes, WA hospital. This full-time, day-shift role supports the ED team with direct patient care and essential clerical functions under RN/medical staff supervision.

Required NA-C or WA State EMT certification and Basic Life Support, with preference for 1 year of ED or ambulance experience. This on-site position offers a sign-on bonus and opportunities to work within a dynamic ED team.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (NA-C) course of study or EMT Basic level or higher.
• Demonstrates understanding of Emergency Department workflows.
• Maintains professional demeanor in high-volume, high-acuity settings.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to rooms and treatment areas using wheelchair or stretcher.
• Obtains and documents vital signs and monitors patients.
• Assists with patient care tasks and clerical duties under RN/MD supervision.
• Performs point of care testing and assists with procedures as directed.
• Cleans, stocks, and maintains ED equipment and rooms.
• Registers patients accurately in coordination with Registration.
• Facilitates clear communication among physicians, nurses, patients and families.
