Job summary

North Country Hospital in Newport, VT is seeking an Emergency Department Technician (EDT) to support the ED team under RN supervision. The role combines clerical responsibilities with hands-on patient care in a fast-paced environment.

The EDT role includes vital signs, specimen collection, EKGs, patient transport, and documentation in the EMR, requiring EMT/LNA and BLS credentials and a positive, team-oriented approach.

Qualifications

• EMT certification in good standing or working toward.
• LNA certification or active enrollment in training.
• BLS certification required or active certification in progress.
• One year EMT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with obtaining vital signs and helps patients in exam gowns.
• Transports stable patients to radiology, nursing units, and discharge vehicles.
• Obtains specimens (urine, sputum, blood, cultures) and delivers to lab as directed.
• Cleans rooms and equipment using universal precautions.
• Restocks rooms, carts, and warming devices each shift as needed.
• Performs EKGs and assists with crutch walking, splints, slings, and other devices.
• Documents treatments, measurements, and procedures in patient records accurately.
• Scans documents into the EMR and manages supply orders and inventory.
