Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health seeks an ED Tech to provide direct patient care under an RN or healthcare professional guidance. You will assist with mobility, hygiene, vital signs, and wound care while documenting accurately in patient records.

The role emphasizes patient safety, effective handoffs, and collaboration with the nursing team. Previous Patient Care Tech experience or nursing student status is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred; must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care.
• Current certification for EMR, EMT, or Medical Assisting preferred.
• Previous experience as Patient Care Tech or nursing support.
• Second year nursing student in RN program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN guidance.
• Assist with mobility, hygiene, and comfort.
• Perform basic tasks: vital signs, lab draws, ECGs, wound care.
• Document accurately and timely in patient records.
• Participate in handoff reports and patient screenings.
• Promote quality and safety improvements in care delivery.
• Maintain knowledge of policies and procedures.
• Communicate changes and concerns to medical staff.
