Job summary

Biddeford Middle School is hiring a Special Education Education Technician II – Functional Life Skills to support students and staff in a fast-paced K-12 setting. The role reinforces learning previously introduced by the classroom or special education teacher, assists in drill and practice activities, and provides classroom management during drills and emergencies.

The position offers family-friendly schedules, a collaborative team, and meaningful work.

Qualifications

  • Certification as an Education Technician from the Maine Department of Education.
  • Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), fingerprinting on file with the Maine Department of Education.
  • Appropriate Ed Technician Certification Level.

Responsibilities

  • Review and reinforce learning previously introduced by the classroom or special education teacher and assist in drill and practice activities.
  • Participate in required workshops by request of Building Leader, Supervisor, or Director.
  • Perform non-instructional, non-evaluating functions including suspension of students.
  • Assist in preparation of instructional materials or provide classroom management functions during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, etc.

Brief Job Duties

Full Job Description
Certification/License
  • Certification as an Education Technician from the Maine Department of Education
  • Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), which includes Fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education
Education
  • Appropriate for Ed Technician Certification Level
Experience
  • Successful prior classroom experience or working with students with special needs for the appropriate grade levels is preferred, but not required.
Compensation
  • Based on position, education level, experience, and per the collective bargaining agreement
  • Range: $21.70 - $32.67 per hour

  • Less than 20 minutes south of the Greater Portland Area
  • Less than two hours north of Boston.
