Job summary

Exeter Hospital is seeking an ED support technician to provide direct patient care to Emergency Department patients and support to the unit. Responsibilities include assisting nurses, obtaining vital signs, and performing phlebotomy and EKGs.

Responsibilities also cover inventory, transporting patients for imaging, and maintaining clean, stocked triage and care areas. CPR is required within 30 days of hire and licensing requirements must be met.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED required.
  • NH EMS Provider's license or NH Nursing Assistant license required.
  • CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Follows department policies, quality improvement, safety and infection control standards.
  • Assists RN with patient care and obtains vitals, blood draws, glucose tests and basic monitoring.
  • Orders and maintains supplies for ED, stocks triage and patient care areas, ensures equipment availability.
  • Assists with patient flow: loading/cleaning rooms, preparing patients for exam and disposition, transporting to imaging.
  • Performs phlebotomy and EKGs; orients new staff.
  • May initiate IV therapy if EMT-Advanced certified.
  • Documents accurately in EMR per policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
