Job summary

Tufts Medicine's Emergency Department is seeking an Emergency Services Technician (36hrs/week) to support direct patient care and department operations under nurse supervision. The role involves phlebotomy, specimen handling, patient comfort, and coordination of patient flow in a fast-paced ED setting. Required high school diploma and BLS; phlebotomy training within 3 months.

Preferred CNA/MA credentials and EMT/AEMT certifications. Bilingual abilities and prior acute-care exposure are a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Phlebotomy competency training within 3 months.
• Prefer CNA or Medical Assistant (MA).
• Preferred EMT or AEMT certification.
• 2 years of healthcare experience; acute setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed nurse in patient care and safety.
• Provide direct patient care and administer basic procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and prepare specimens for lab testing.
• Greet patients and families, communicate care needs to nurses.
• Record and relay patient data to assigned nurse in a timely manner.
• Prepare room for admission, transfer, or discharge and assist with transports.
