Job summary

Northwell's Danbury Hospital is seeking an Emergency Department support specialist to assist with patient care under RN supervision. The role emphasizes clinical tasks, patient communication, and efficient flow in a fast-paced ED.

Ideal candidates hold EMT or Medical Assistant certification (or are nursing students) with CPR certification and at least one year of ED exposure. Training in phlebotomy, EKG, and direct patient care is valued.

Qualifications

• Current EMT, or Medical Assistant certification, or Nursing student, or 1 year prior ED experience.
• CPR certification required.
• Minimum Experience: one year
• Desired: Phlebotomy, EKG Training, Direct Patient Care Skills

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of the treatment area and maintain stock and supplies.
• Prepares patients for exam and positions for comfort with monitoring devices.
• Performs vital signs, EKGs, bladder scans, blood glucose, phlebotomy, and related tasks.
• Collaborate with RN and ED providers to support patient care in the ED.
• Transports patients for testing and to inpatient units; documents care interactions.
