Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking an ED Tech at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, VA. This PRN role supports ED operations with direct patient care under RN guidance, including vital signs, catheterization, EKGs, and wound care, while ensuring patient safety and smooth handoffs.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, BLS preferred on hire, and prior Patient Care Tech or nursing support experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred upon hire.
• EMR/EMT/Medical Assisting certification preferred.
• Experience as Patient Care Tech or nursing support preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care and tasks including vital signs, personal care, mobility, lab draws, ECGs, wound care under RN guidance.
• Completes patient rounding and 1:1 safety companion services as needed.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse; reports changes and concerns.
• Delivers high level customer service to patients, families, and staff; documents care accurately.
• Participates in handoffs, performs delegated tasks after competency validation.
• Promotes quality and safety; works independently under pressure.
