Job summary

Bon Secours Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, VA is seeking an ED Tech (PRN) to support emergency department staff with direct patient care under RN supervision. The role emphasizes safety, compassionate care, and efficient patient flow.

Responsibilities include assisting with mobility, taking vital signs, performing basic wound care, lab draws, ECGs, and accurate documentation. A high school diploma and BLS/EMR/EMT or Medical Assisting credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care.
• Current certification for EMR, EMT, or Medical Assisting preferred.
• Previous healthcare experience or second-year nursing student in an RN program preferred.
• Computer literacy is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under the guidance of an RN or designated healthcare professional.
• Completes patient rounds and assists with mobility and basic procedures.
• Performs and documents vital signs, lab draws, ECGs, wound care as directed.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and concerns.
• Delivers high-level customer service to patients, families, and staff.
• Maintains accurate documentation of patient care and handoffs.
• Keeps policies and procedures knowledge up to date.
