Job summary

Sentara Independence is hiring an Emergency Department Technician to support the ED team in Virginia Beach, VA. The role involves assisting physicians and nurses, performing basic patient procedures, and helping maintain ED readiness during weekend days.

Qualifications

• Clinical experience of <1 year required.
• EMT-B certification or completion of Military Hospital Corps School at time of hire, or current clinical program student.
• Candidates with prior Sentara ED tech experience within 2 years considered in lieu of criteria above.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians, advanced practitioners, or nurses in implementing care plans.
• Perform procedures under supervision (e.g., starting IVs, EKGs, vital signs).
• Conduct point-of-care testing and blood cultures as directed.
• Support triage and patient arrival prioritization and ED room readiness.

Sentara Independence is currently hiring an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) to join the team!

ED Tech assists the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse in implementing plans of care for emergency/minor emergency care patients. Performs patient procedures and treatments under the supervision of the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse.

In this role, you are an integral part of the Emergency Department Team.

Job Requirements/Certifications

• Required: Clinical - <1 year
• Required: EMT-B with state or national certification at time of hire OR Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School, qualified MMAC candidates OR. Current students enrolled in a clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy).
• Candidates with prior employment in the Sentara ED tech job code in the past two years will also be considered in lieu of the 3 criteria above.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $20.07 - $29.88 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
