Job summary

University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health (UM UCH) seeks a Patient Care Technician for the Emergency Department. This full-time day shift (7am-7:30pm) role provides direct patient care, takes vital signs, assists with ADLs, and supports the care team in a fast-paced ED environment.

Responsibilities include blood draws, labs, IV setup, wound care assistance, and patient safety. A CNA/GNA credential and BLS are required, with 1 year of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Maryland CNA or GNA certification required.
• BLS certification required.
• One year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under nursing supervision.
• Take and record vital signs and input data appropriately.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and patient comfort.
• Perform blood draws and specimen collection.
• Conduct blood glucose monitoring and venipuncture as directed.
• Assist with admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Observe patient status and report changes to the team.
• Maintain patient rooms and care equipment in good order.
