Job summary

University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health in Aberdeen, MD is seeking a part-time Patient Care Technician for the Observation Emergency Department during night shifts (7pm–7:30am). You will support nursing staff with direct patient care, vital signs, ADLs, specimen collection and wound care.

Requirements include Maryland CNA/GNA certification, BLS, and 1 year of experience preferred. Sign-on bonus of $1,200 with 1-year commitment may apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Maryland CNA or GNA certification required.
• 1 year of experience preferred; BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs testing and manages patient care based on results and findings.
• Records care along the continuum including ADLs: feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting and transferring.
• Completes, documents and reports vital signs.
• Assists in admission, transfer and discharge of patients.
• Promotes patient safety and fall prevention; maintains a safe environment.
• Performs blood glucose monitoring and venipuncture for samples.
• Sets up and operates EKG machines and monitors rhythms.
• Assists with enteral tube feedings as supervised by licensed nurse.
• Provides wound care and supports dressing changes as directed.
