Job summary

LifePoint Health's Highpoint - Sumner Regional Medical Center is seeking a Patient Access Representative to join our team. This role supports ED registration, bedside registration, and patient access services to ensure a smooth patient experience.

You will verify insurance, discuss financial responsibility, and collaborate with nurses and clinicians in a fast-paced ED. The schedule is 7-on/7-off, including weekends, with comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong customer service with empathetic approach.
• Proficient computer skills; able to navigate multiple systems.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced ED environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to explain financial responsibilities to patients.
• Willingness to work 7-on/7-off schedule including weekends/holidays.
• Cross-train to cover Sumner Regional and Sumner Station.

Responsibilities

• Register patients accurately for ED visits and direct admissions.
• Enter patient demographics, insurance, billing data into systems.
• Perform bedside registration when patients are in care.
• Explain forms and collect patient information.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
• Discuss patient financial responsibility and collect co-pays.
• Answer calls and assist patients, families, and staff.
• Coordinate with nursing and providers for efficient flow.
