Job summary

Omega Healthcare Management Services seeks an experienced medical coder to abstract, code, sequence, and interpret clinical information from a variety of medical records. You will assign diagnoses and procedures with attention to accurate sequencing, using coding principals and DRG/APC expertise to ensure proper reimbursement.

This role requires AHIMA/AAPC-certified coding credentials, 2–4 years of current production coding experience in acute care and profee settings, and knowledge of HIPAA,

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an AAPC or AHIMA-approved Coding Certificate Program.
• Minimum of two to four years of current production coding experience in both acute care and profee.

Responsibilities

• Abstracts and codes pertinent medical data into multiple software programs and/or encoders.
• Assigns correct principal diagnoses, secondary diagnoses and principal/secondary procedures with attention to sequencing.
• Maintains compliance with external regulatory requirements and HIPAA/HITECH standards.
• Extracts pertinent data from health records to determine coding for reports and billing documents.
• Track and document productivity; maintain 95% quality rating.
