Job Description

Economists at Amazon partner closely with senior management, business stakeholders, scientists and engineers, and economist leadership to solve key business problems across various domains such as Amazon Web Services, Kindle, Prime, inventory planning, international retail, third-party merchants, search, pricing, labor and employment planning, and benefits management. Amazon Economists build econometric models using our world-class data systems and apply techniques from applied macro/time series, microeconomics, econometric theory, empirical IO, health, labor, and public economics. You will work in a dynamic environment, developing econometric techniques for large datasets, addressing quantitative problems, and contributing to automated systems design.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in Economics, Quantitative Marketing, Finance, or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of econometric analysis involving fundamental preferences and strategic effects.
  • Strong background in statistics and big data applications.
  • Experience analyzing pricing, competition, labor decisions, healthcare outcomes, auctions, marketing, advertising, contract design, and game theory.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced business environment.
  • Strong research record.
  • Effective communication skills for both economists and non-economist audiences.
