Position Details

Location: Howard Community College main Columbia and Laurel College Center campuses, Maryland

Class type: Monday through Friday, day and evening classes  up to 25 hours per week.

Schedule: Part‑time adjunct faculty may teach up to two courses per semester.

Summary

Assist the Department of History and Economics by teaching a variety of macro‑ and micro‑economic courses as part of a faculty pool.

Essential Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver in‑person instruction for assigned courses.
• Use the Canvas learning management system to support course delivery.
• Provide timely feedback on assignments and assessments.
• Maintain course materials and stay current with economic theory and practice.
• Collaborate with colleagues and department leadership to enhance the curriculum.

Minimum Education

A master’s degree in economics or a related field.

Experience and Qualifications

• Preferred prior teaching experience, especially in blended or hybrid modalities.
• Experience using technology to deliver learning, including online, in‑person, and hybrid courses.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity software.

Eligibility

Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States and reside within commuting distance of Maryland (Virginia, West Virginia, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania). Relocation assistance is not provided.
