Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, urban planning, business management, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum of two years of experience with a municipality, 501C3, or private entity in economic development or urban planning.
  • Knowledge of Tax Increment Financing (TIF), Brownfield Redevelopment Authorities, and other economic development tools and financing practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city leadership, officials, stakeholders, developers, the public, and staff.
  • Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to promote economic growth within the City of Holland.
  • Attract and retain businesses and investment opportunities in collaboration with state economic development agencies.
  • Lead housing policy development, including Brownfield TIF and housing subsidies; manage incentives.
  • Coordinate economic development initiatives and provide guidance to regional partners for locating new business.
  • Coordinate tax abatement programs, assist with applications, and monitor outcomes and taxes paid.
  • Collaborate with developers, architects, and contractors to align projects with City goals and regulations.
  • Support local businesses and economic development organizations; foster entrepreneurship.
  • Provide staff support to City Commission and Brownfield Redevelopment Authority; prepare reports and attend meetings.
  • Coordinate with officials and stakeholders to support infrastructure improvements and public amenities.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness; adjust strategies as needed.
  • Conduct market research and prepare written analyses and communications.
