Job summary

City of Elkhart is seeking an Assistant Director for Economic Development to promote retention and expansion of businesses, and to develop new development opportunities through financing programs and incentives. The role administers and develops economic development policies and programs for the City and collaborates with the Mayor and Director of Development Services.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4-year college degree in Economics, Urban Planning, Political Science, Public Administration or Business Administration.
• Master's Degree strongly desired.
• Minimum of 4 years comparable experience with a Master's Degree counting as an equivalent of 2 years' experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and cultivate relationships with Economic Development organizations, regional businesses, governments and media.
• Research and understand applicable economic development incentive programs.
• Work with state and local organizations to attract new businesses.
• Develop proposals for the use of public incentives based on projects.
• Prepare financial analyses on incentive proposals and assess feasibility.
