Responsibilities

• Identify high-end designer or vintage jewelry for research by management.
• Sort jewelry into lots for sale by the pound.
• Assist with safety training and testing processes as needed.
• Monitor incoming jewelry and notify supervisor of missing bags.
• Ensure Jewelry Tester has sufficient jewelry to test.

The E-Commerce Jewelry Sorter sorts donated jewelry and picks out precious metals to be tested and processed by the Jewelry Tester, while sorting non-precious metals into lots. The position is a member of the Retail Team.Specific DutiesFollow all Goodwill policies and safety procedures. Must possess professional etiquette.Sorts donated jewelry picking out any precious metals to be tested and processed by Jewelry Tester.Sets aside scrap precious metal pieces to be tested at a later time.Pairs and bags precious metal earrings.Identifies recognizable high-end designer fashion jewelry or distinguished high-end vintage/antique jewelry for research by assistant manager.Separates jewelry into appropriate lots to be sold by the pound.Will receive training in acid testing to further learn about gold and silver appearance, not to pre-test items before sending to Jewelry Tester.Assists, monitors, and records incoming jewelry from store tote bags and immediately notifies manager when an expected bag is missing.Ensures that Jewelry Tester has enough jewelry to test and notifies supervisor if an issue arises.Keeps work area and surrounding area neat, clean, and orderly.Regular attendance is required.All other duties as assigned.Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and customers.Must be computer literate and have knowledge of Microsoft operating systems.Must have the ability to make independent judgment decisions.Must have and maintain a positive attitude.Vast knowledge of household items, along with the desire to continue learning.Basic knowledge of safety and caution with unknown items and/or variables.Ability to work well in a hectic work environment with occasional periods of high stress.Must be able to work a flexible schedule on short notice, including nights, weekends, and occasional long hours.Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs. frequently.Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally.Ability to engage in prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking.Ability to engage in frequent bending, stooping, and stretching.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
