Job summary

Slate Auto is seeking an eCommerce Merchandising Lead to shape and execute our digital shelf for accessories, wraps, and merchandise. You will own the merchandising strategy, build a function from the ground up, and partner with product, marketing, and design to drive conversion across collections and pages.

You’ll manage data quality in Akeneo, implement field standards, and lead hands-on catalog setup while mentoring a small team as headcount grows. Travel to Slate offices is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years in ecommerce merchandising, site merchandising, or catalog management.
• Experience building a function from scratch and mentoring merchandisers.
• Hands-on Akeneo PIM experience; familiarity with Salsify or inRiver is a plus.
• Variant-heavy catalogs including vehicle fitment, colorways, sizes, and grids.

Responsibilities

• Build the merchandising function from the ground up as a team of one with strategy and operating rhythm.
• Define roles and quality standards; hire and grow the team when needed.
• Own merchandising strategy for ecommerce, with on-brand storytelling for conversion.
• Audit catalog data in Akeneo and enforce field standards (titles, attributes, images).
• Partner with product, marketing, and design to align catalog inputs and avoid silos.
• Handle hands-on product setup and launches initially; scale with team.
• QA English and Spanish content; use translation service.
• Leverage AI to increase efficiency and quality across catalog tasks.
• Curate product pages and collections with marketing and design for GTM moments.
• Analyze performance data to drive merchandising improvements with UX/engineering.
• Travel 5-10% to Slate office sites.
