Job summary

Slate is seeking an eCommerce Merchandising Lead to build and scale the catalog for accessories, wraps, and merchandise. You will own the strategy, perform hands-on setup, and lead future team growth across digital, design, marketing, and product to optimize the shopper journey.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, audit data in Akeneo, and drive on-brand storytelling that enhances conversion, while leveraging AI tools to improve efficiency and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field, or equivalent experience; 8+ years in ecommerce merchandising or catalog management.
• Experience building a function from scratch and mentoring merchandisers; direct people management a plus.
• Hands-on experience in Akeneo (PIM) and similar platforms (Salsify, inRiver).
• Experience merchandising hard goods and apparel/soft goods with variant-heavy catalogs.

Responsibilities

• Build the merchandising function from the ground up as a team of one and set strategy and operating rhythm.
• Define roles, set standards, hire and grow the team as headcount grows.
• Own merchandising strategy across ecommerce experience to drive awareness and conversion.
• Audit catalog data in Akeneo; enforce field-level standards for titles, attributes and images.
• Collaborate with product managers to align catalog inputs and avoid silos.
• Perform hands-on product setup and launch work, data entry, and asset coordination.
• QA English and Spanish product content; translate via service.
• Use AI to raise efficiency and quality across catalog tasks and documentation.
• Curate product pages and collections with marketing and design for launches and seasonal pushes.
• Analyze performance data and drive merchandising improvements with UX/engineering.
