Job summary

John Deere in Chicago, IL, seeks a Software Engineer to design and implement eCommerce features, including order management and UI for Shop Admin. You will develop backend services with Java/Spring and optimize databases for performance while integrating shipping providers.

The role requires strong Java/J2EE experience and UI skills with React/JSP/JSF, plus TDD and AWS experience. Onsite work with up to 50% remote is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 3 years related experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement eCommerce features for John Deere, including order management, product shipping, dealer data, and UI development for Shop Admin.
• Develop and optimize backend systems using Java (Spring, Hibernate), with a strong focus on improving performance through efficient database design, including optimizing order-related tables.
• Integrate third-party services such as shipping providers while ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Write automated test cases and perform unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Implement monitoring and analytics to track system performance and user behavior.
• Must live within normal commuting distance of worksite. Up to 50% remote work allowed (may change with company policy).
