John Deere invites applications for a Part-Time Student - Software Engineering position at the UIUC campus in Champaign, IL. You will contribute to building digital products used in factory operations and logistics with a modern, containerized tech stack.

Eligible students must be full-time at UIUC with a May 2028 or later graduation date, a 2.8+ GPA, and the ability to work 15–20 hours weekly during the school year and 30–40 hours in summer. Onsite position.

Qualifications

• Pursuing CS or MIS, or related field, ideal.
• Registered full-time UIUC student.
• Graduation May 2028 or later.
• GPA 2.8 or above.
• Able to work 15–20 hours weekly during the academic year.
• Able to work 30–40 hours weekly in summer.
• Must commute to Champaign weekly year-round (relocation not provided).
• Experience with relational DBMS (MySQL, Postgres, SQL Server, Oracle).
• Experience creating APIs/web services and front-end development.
• Willing to learn new skills on the job.

Responsabilités

Your Responsibilities

As a Part-Time Student-Software Engineering located at the UIUC Campus in Champaign, IL, you will:

What Skills You Need

• Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems; others may apply
• Must be registered as a full-time student at UIUC
• Graduation date of May 2028 or later
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
• Available to work during the academic year 15-20 hours/weekly
• Available to work during the summer semester 30-40 hours/weekly
• Must be able to commute to the work location in Champaign, Illinois, on a weekly basis year-round (NOTE: Relocation assistance is not provided.)
• Experience with a relational database management system (ie: MySQL, Postgres, SQL Server, or Oracle DB)
• Experience creating APIs/web services and front-end development
• Ability and willingness to learn additional skills and grow on the job

What Makes You Stand Out

• Experience building applications in ReactJS with Redux
• Experience with source code management tools like GitHub
• Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment using Jenkins, Drone, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions
• Experience with Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure
• Understanding of Agile software development approach
