Shift Details

Full‑time, 40‑hour week. Monday‑Friday with holiday and weekend rotation. 10‑hour or 8‑hour shifts.

Job Summary

The Hartford HealthCare Heart & Vascular Institute seeks experienced Cardiac Sonographers for its Non‑Invasive Cardiology team at Hartford Hospital. The department performs over 14,000 procedures annually and supports a nationally recognized Cardiology Fellowship program. The sonographer performs transthoracic, stress echo, myocardial strain, 3‑D imaging, and assists with trans‑esophageal echoes. The role also involves quality improvement initiatives, monthly echo conferences, and patient‑centered documentation and billing.

Responsibilities
  • Perform transthoracic, stress echo, myocardial strain, and 3‑D imaging studies.
  • Assist in trans‑esophageal echo examinations.
  • Participate in research studies and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support Cardiology Fellowship training and attend monthly echo conferences.
  • Collaborate with departmental and hospital teams to provide quality patient services.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and billing for examinations.
  • Adhere to patient safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved cardiovascular program.
  • Associate’s Degree in Health Care; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • One to two years previous echo experience preferred.
  • Experience with 2‑D, m‑mode, Doppler, TEE and stress echo required.
  • Familiarity with 3‑D and strain imaging.
  • Registered RDCS/CCI or eligible for registration; if not registered, candidate must attain registration within one year.
  • Moderate computer skills.
