Job summary

Portsmouth Regional Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking an Echo Technologist to perform echocardiography procedures and explain the process to patients.

The role requires a Cardiac Sonography program graduate with RDS eligibility or registry, at least 2 years of experience, and BLS certification within 30 days of start date. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a busy cardiology setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Cardiac Sonography program; RDS eligible or registered.
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer credential required or in process.
• Minimum of 2 years of cardiac/echo sonographer experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Perform all established echocardiography procedures; explain the process to the patient.
• Recognize sonographic characteristics and adjust scanning to optimize image quality.
• Analyze findings and provide data to the physician for final diagnosis.
• Initiate additional scanning techniques or administer contrast as indicated.
• Work in partnership with other healthcare professionals to deliver care.
• Perform stress echo testing when needed.

Job Summary

As an Echo Technologist, you would perform all established echocardiography procedures. While communicating the nature of the procedure to the patient, you will address any questions or concerns.

• You would recognize sonographic characteristics of normal and abnormal tissue, structures and blood flow while adjusting scanning techniques to optimize image quality and spectral waveform.

• Analyze sonographic findings throughout the course of the examination so a comprehensive exam is complete and sufficient data is provided to the physician to render a final diagnosis.

• You will initiate additional scanning techniques or administer contrast agents as indicated by the examination.

• Work in partnership with other healthcare professionals to provide the best medical care possible for all patients.

• You will perform stress echo testing when needed.

What qualifications you will need:
