Job summary

Advocate Health in Park Ridge is seeking an EKG technician to perform routine and STAT ECGs, identify patients, obtain histories, and prep patients for procedures. You will rotate to the Emergency Department and support physicians with timely data transmission.

Qualifications

HS/GED or equivalent experience.
1-2 years hospital-related experience or CNA or EMT preferred.
Ability to transcribe medical information is required.
Good communication and documentation skills a must.

Responsibilities

Perform routine and STAT ECG requests promptly.
Identify patient correctly and obtain relevant patient history.
Enter/edit data on ECG machine before transmission to mainframe.
Perform Holter monitor applications/removals and prepare for accurate studies.
Prepare patient for procedures while maintaining privacy and empathy.
Troubleshoot problems with ECGs and rhythm strips; calm anxious patients.
Provide shift-to-shift updates and ensure ECGs are processed and reconciled.
Maintain printers and equipment; communicate supply needs to Heart Station leadership.
Distribute studies to cardiologists for review and interpretation.
Maintain safety, infection control, and cleanliness of the department.
