Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools Davis Center is seeking an Associate Educator for ECFE to support licensed staff, provide home visiting to families with children birth-5, and offer interpretation for non-English speakers to promote school readiness and cultural diversity.

You will collaborate with a teaching team, implement developmentally appropriate activities, translate materials for parents, and help families engage with their children in learning experiences.

Qualifications

• Completed 90 quarter or 60 semester credits and/or AA in Education/Child Development/Parent Education or related area.
• Knowledge of and experience with a home visiting model.
• Trained as PAT Home Visitor (or willing to be trained).
• Educational background to assist site staff in education services.
• Knowledge of cultural differences affecting non-English speaking families.
• Knowledge of acculturation to American society.
• Knowledge of ECFE programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with parents and young children.
• Attend CPI within one year of hire and maintain CPI expiry with annual refresher.
• Training and experience in computers and technology.
• Ability to collaborate with others.
• Ability to lead with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Post-secondary coursework in related area.
• Knowledge of Minneapolis Public Schools programs.
• Proven community collaboration in urban settings.
• Computer experience to collaborate with families, schools, and community.

Responsibilities

• Assist teaching staff in implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans for children birth-5.
• Provide interpretation for non-English speaking families in a class setting.
• Translate materials for parents.
• Model positive interaction and engage parents with their children.
• Work with young children in groups to guide exploration and discovery.
• Prepare and maintain class materials and spaces for safety and cleanliness.
• Share observations of progress and concerns related to children's development.
• Participate as part of a teaching team.
• Provide home visits focused on parenting strategies.
• Assist in outreach activities as needed; meet attendance standards.
• Participate in staff development aligned with EC Strategic Plan and PDP.
• Other duties as assigned.
