Job summary

YMCA of the Inland Northwest in Spokane, WA is seeking an ECEAP Assistant Teacher for the South Hill site. This full-time role supports a leading nonprofit dedicated to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility by providing inclusive learning experiences for young children.

You will work under the Lead Teacher to deliver developmentally appropriate activities, maintain records, and uphold state licensing and YMCA standards.

Qualifications

• Must have or be willing to receive an Early Childhood Education Certificate within 5 years of hire.
• Experience working with children in a developmental, diverse setting.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate activities.
• Negative TB test within the past 6 months; MMR Vaccination.
• Registered in DCYF MERIT, Blood Borne Pathogens, and apply for portable background check.
• Within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention training, First Aid/CPR Certifications, Food Handlers Permit, 30 Hours Basic Training or exemption.
• Understands YMCA is a public accommodation committed to inclusion and ADA compliance.
• Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Cultivates positive relationships with children, families and co-workers, remaining dedicated to each child’s learning and success.
• Supervises and engages children in purposeful programming in classrooms.
• Adheres to DCYF Licensing, Early Achievers and YMCA standards and follows safety procedures.
• Assists in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Aids in observations and maintaining required program records.
• Maintains the program site and classroom cleanliness and organization for a well-prepared learning environment.
• Participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and trainings.
• Demonstrates the YMCA Four Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
