Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks an Exceptional Children Teacher to implement IEP-aligned instruction for EC students at the intermediate level. Under moderate supervision, you will develop plans, deliver group and individual lessons, and support academic goals within school policies under the principal’s direction.

You will collaborate with administrators and staff, manage assessments, and use data to shape instruction while maintaining required records.

Qualifications

• Experience with Easy IEP and knowledge of EC laws, rules, and regulations preferred.
• Ability to work positively and collaboratively with classroom and support staff.
• Strong writing, speaking and diplomacy skills.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Master's degree in education preferred.
• Valid NC Teaching license required.
• Equivalent combination of experience and education.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Collaborate with administration and other educators to create the most complete educational environment for EC students.
• Follow established school procedures for crisis or emergency situations.
• Develop lesson plans and deliver group and individual instruction aligned to IEPs.
• Administer and interpret individual educational testing.
• Use data to assess progress toward academic and behavioral goals.
• Maintain accurate records as required by policy.
