Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in Charlotte, North Carolina is seeking an Exceptional Children Teacher Assistant (Extensions) to support the IEP goals of EC students under general supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with instruction, supervising students, and coordinating with the classroom teacher to ensure access to general education as needed.

Qualifications

• At least one of the following: Associate's degree, 48 credits or WorkKeys/in-service training.
• One year working with EC children preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Immediate start date and ability to support IEP goals.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to laws, policies, and procedures.
• Assist children individually or in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, yards, and gyms.
• Coordinate with the classroom teacher on instructional efforts.
• Prepare lesson materials, bulletin boards, equipment, and demonstrations.
• Assist with student transportation duties as needed.
• Provide physical assistance in self-help, toileting, and transfers.
• Document student progress toward IEP goals.
