Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Exceptional Children Teacher Assistant for the Extensions Program. The role supports the lead teacher, helps EC students access general education, and assists in implementing IEP goals within the classroom and school policies.

Starting date is immediate for a 9-month, full-time position. A qualified candidate will have the required education credentials and the ability to support diverse learners in a school setting.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher required as part of eligibility.
  • 48 credit hours or higher acceptable in lieu of degree.
  • WorkKeys and 96 hours of in-service training required or completed.
  • NC Teacher Assistant Apprenticeship Program completion required or preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist EC students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning.
  • Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, and gymnasiums.
  • Document student progress toward IEP goals and maintain records.
  • Present subject matter and support teachers in delivering lessons.
  • Assist with attendance procedures, records, and organizing classroom spaces.
  • Prepare lesson materials, displays, and classroom demonstrations.
  • Participate in bus, car, and van transportation duties as needed.
