Responsibilities

Develops and implements an instructional plan compatible with the school and system-wide curricular goals and the students’ IEP.
Develops and updates Individual Education Programs (IEP) for students with disabilities; implements and updates as needed.
Provides direct special education instruction to identified students.
Uses a variety of teaching methods and adapts materials as needed.
Monitors student behavior; maintains classroom discipline; deescalates inappropriate behaviors; records and reports restrains.
Assists disabled students with personal and self-help needs.
Communicates with parents regarding student progress via periodic reports.
Acts as a case coordinator for assigned students; consults with caregivers and parents.
