Job summary

Qualifications

• Must hold or have the ability to obtain North Carolina Teacher Licensure.
• Must meet the qualifications for Residency Teacher Licensure.
• Must hold or have the ability to obtain EC Certification.
• Knowledge of curriculum and referral/placement procedures.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements instructional plans aligned with school goals and students' IEPs.
• Develops IEPs for students with disabilities; updates them based on assessments and progress.
• Provides direct special education instruction to identified students.
• Employs varied teaching methods and adapts materials to meet student needs.
• Creates Classroom Management Plans and maintains discipline in the classroom.
• Monitors behavior goals on IEP/BIP; uses behavior logs and reports restraints when necessary.
• Delivers daily social skills instruction and opportunities for practice.
• Assists students with personal/self-help tasks as needed.
• Facilitates, develops and monitors FBA as needed.
• Monitors academic and attendance performance; communicates with parents through progress reports.
• Acts as case coordinator; collaborates with caregivers and school professionals to meet student needs.
• Maintains student records per NC procedures and laws.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
