Job summary

Sugar Creek Charter School, Inc in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Exceptional Children’s Resource Teacher to deliver targeted academic and behavioral interventions in a resource setting while supporting inclusion in the general education classroom.

You will collaborate with general education teachers, monitor progress, and ensure IEP compliance, accommodations, and appropriate modifications to foster student growth and success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
• Valid North Carolina teaching license with an EC endorsement.
• Experience as an EC teacher, preferably in resource or inclusion settings.
• Strong knowledge of IEP development, differentiated instruction, accommodations, and assistive technology.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Passion for student growth and commitment to ensuring all learners succeed.

Responsibilities

• Provide small-group and one-on-one specialized instruction in a resource setting to address IEP goals.
• Implement evidence-based interventions in reading, math, and writing.
• Collaborate with general education teachers for inclusive practices and accommodations.
• Use progress monitoring tools to track growth and adjust instruction.
• Ensure appropriate accommodations/modifications per IEPs.
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs to ensure IDEA compliance.
• Maintain documentation including IEPs and progress reports.
• Facilitate IEP meetings and parent conferences; data reviews.
• Collaborate with counselors, interventionists, and service providers.
• Partner with general education teachers to ensure access to curriculum.
• Engage in MTSS/RTI processes to identify needs and interventions.
• Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives.
• Contribute to school community through meetings and events.
