Dallas Independent School District is seeking an Anticipated Duty Free Teacher Assistant (EC-5). The role supports classroom activities, assists with student management, and tutors students in small groups to reinforce learning.

Qualifications

• Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent, plus one option listed.
• Paraprofessional certificate required from State Board of Certification.
• Proficient in basic communication techniques and language.
• Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with students, staff, parents and the public.
• Demonstrated initiative and willingness to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Good writing skills and ability to communicate with students, parents, employees.
• Demonstrated flexibility to cope with a changing world.
• Willingness to stay current with developments in the profession.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting intensified learning experiences for students in the EC-5 area and relieve teachers of non-instructional duties.
• Assist with student arrival/departure management and attendance tracking.
• Perform supportive tasks for a certified teacher that are primarily non-instructional.
• Support teachers and students in achieving program objectives and activities.
• Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher and tutor students individually or in small groups.
• Assist in filing, organizing materials for distribution and recording information.
• Maintain student records, attendance and files; perform other duties as assigned.
• Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required.
