Job summary

Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. is seeking an Operating Supervisor to independently manage the safe, efficient operation of watch supervised and power plant equipment at East River Generating Station in New York City.

The role emphasizes safety, environmental compliance, and strong leadership within a unionized environment. The incumbent will oversee startup/shutdown, coordinate with System Operations, ensure regulatory and internal policy compliance, and mentor staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 3 years' experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Associate's Degree with 4 years' experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High School Diploma/GED with 5 years' experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Communication: Clear verbal and written communication; listen effectively and allow others to express thoughts.
• Information Management: Use mainframe or PC applications; maintain system integrity and security.
• Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate records and reference materials; ensure they are current and available.
• Housekeeping: Ensure good housekeeping practices in all areas of responsibility.
• Training: Develop personnel to improve efficiency and productivity through instruction and coaching.
• Personnel: Improve morale and productivity; adhere to company rules and collective bargaining agreements.
• Operations: Supervise startup and shutdown of equipment; decide on unit operation in normal and emergency conditions.
• Liaison: Act as liaison with System Operations and CIG; prepare trouble reports and investigations.
• Admin: Administer maintenance memos, work permits and operating orders.
• Discipline: Determine disciplinary actions and evaluate subordinates' performance.
