Job summary

Veit & Company, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator in Minnesota to operate heavy machinery and perform routine maintenance on equipment. You will follow OSHA safety procedures, read grade stakes, and work on site/highway projects with occasional travel.

The role requires 6–12 months of equipment experience, OSHA 10/First Aid, and strong communication to coordinate with management and crews.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 6–12 months of operating construction equipment experience.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment operating principles.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment under varying working conditions.
• OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, and safety training requirements.
• Ability to read and comprehend grade stakes/site plans.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment of varying sizes for site/highway construction.
• Follow company and OSHA safety procedures; report issues to Foreman or Safety Director.
• Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Assist in training entry-level employees in maintenance and repair duties.
• Identify underground utilities before excavation and review trenching requirements.
• Keep supervisors informed of actions that may affect tasks or operations.
• Handle other duties as assigned by management.
