Job summary

Veit is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator in North Dakota to operate various heavy machines, including graders, bulldozers, scrapers, and loaders, for earthmoving and paving tasks. The role emphasizes safety, adherence to procedures, and effective communication with site teams.

You will perform routine inspections, assist with training, and help identify underground utilities before excavation. Occasional travel and union-related scheduling may apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 6–12 months operating construction equipment experience preferred.
• OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, and safety precautions required.
• Ability to read grade stakes and site plans; good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate one or more heavy construction equipment types safely and efficiently.
• Follow company and OSHA safety procedures; report safety concerns.
• Inspect and perform preventative maintenance; refer defects for repair.
• Assist in training entry level workers as needed.
• Identify buried utilities prior to excavation and ensure trenching protections are in place.
• Maintain records and communicate progress to supervisors; perform other duties as assigned.
