Job summary

Thompson Tractor Company is seeking an Earthmoving Shop Technician to perform diagnostics, minor repairs, and preventative maintenance on earthmoving equipment in a service department environment. The role requires reading service information systems, ordering parts, and testing components for optimal performance.

Responsibilities include working independently in the shop, following safety standards, and maintaining a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
• Minimum of one year of mechanical repair experience is required or equivalent technical education.
• Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills is required.
• MVR required; Med Card and CDL may be preferred or beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to and follows all applicable safety standards and procedures.
• Plans and performs minor repairs using correct tools and procedures.
• Performs tasks on engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical components: remove/install, disassemble/reassemble, minor adjustments.
• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrates proper use of service information systems.
• Orders and returns parts for assigned jobs in a timely manner.
• Tests and adjusts components for optimal performance.
• Works independently in the shop as required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license to be eligible for hire.
