Job summary

Thompson Tractor Company is seeking a Preventive Maintenance Field Technician - Earthmoving to perform maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on earthmoving heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and graders used in construction and mining.

The role emphasizes safety, independent work in demanding field conditions, and ongoing training to stay current with equipment models and industry advancements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of mechanical repairs experience required.
• Must have basic typing skills and PC familiarity.
• Med Card and CDL preferred; MVR required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems; remove and install; disassemble and reassemble.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, service reports, and labor hours; complete documentation promptly.
• Follow DOT/Driving regulations and safety protocols.
• Coordinate with Parts to identify, order, and receive required parts; maintain inventory of critical parts.
• Travel to job sites for on-site repairs and maintenance; communicate with customers and team members.
