Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Member of the Technical Staff in Flight Mechanics to deliver deep technical solutions for launch vehicles and spacecraft. You will design trajectories, perform astrodynamics analyses, and develop new tools while collaborating with engineering partners to serve defense, civil, and commercial customers.

Minimum requirements include a Master’s in a relevant field and up to 1 year of related experience; programming in C/C++/Fortran/Python and ability to travel

Qualifications

• Master’s in aeronautical/astronautical engineering, physics or applied math; last 12 months possible.
• 0–1 year experience in flight mechanics, astrodynamics or trajectory modeling.
• Proficiency in C, C++, Fortran, Python, JavaScript, Linux and/or MATLAB.

Responsibilities

• Trajectory design and optimization for launch vehicles and spacecraft.
• Astrodynamics analysis including orbit propagation and maneuvers.
• Evaluate propulsion-using vehicles and perform RPO support.
• Develop CONOPS and incorporate constraints into designs.
• Provide operational support for launch sequences and anomalies.
• Build new flight dynamics tools and apply AI/ML methods where useful.
