The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Member of the Technical Staff – Flight Mechanics to lead trajectory design and astrodynamics analysis for launch vehicles and spacecraft. The role combines research and practical engineering to support diverse national space programs.

The position offers a hybrid work model with options across several U.S. locations, and requires collaboration with defense, civil, and commercial customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aeronautical/astronautical engineering, physics or applied mathematics.
• Two years of experience in flight mechanics, astrodynamics, trajectory optimization, or related fields.
• Proficiency in C, C++, Fortran, Python, Linux, and/or MATLAB.
• Willing to travel domestically ~10%.
• Ability to obtain/maintain US security clearance (TS/SCI preferred).

Responsibilities

• Trajectory design and optimization for launch vehicles and spacecraft.
• Perform astrodynamics analysis including orbit propagation.
• Evaluate propulsion systems and mission applications.
• Develop flight mechanics tools and collaborate with engineers.
• Contribute to CONOPS and operational planning.
• Provide on-call support for launch and deployment sequences.
