Job summary

Behavioral Health Group – BHG in Des Moines, IA is seeking a compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to provide individual and group counseling, build treatment plans, and support patients on their recovery journey. You will develop plans, assess needs, and help clients access community services with confidential, respectful care.

The role offers a Monday–Friday 5:00 AM–1:00 PM schedule, $25/hour base pay with a bonus structure, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Must meet state-level requirements.
• CADC credential required for this role.
• Experience in behavioral health preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling for people in recovery.
• Welcome new and returning patients through intake and orientation.
• Connect patients with community resources and follow up on referrals.
• Maintain comprehensive treatment plans and accurate records.
• Respond to crises with compassion and document actions taken.
• Foster an inclusive, respectful, and compliant care environment.
