Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking an Early Morning/Preload Sort Switcher in Oklahoma City. You will move trailers in the yard, coordinate with central control, and perform basic package loading/unloading with safety-focused procedures.

No formal education is required, and experience is optional though six months in package handling or CDL-related work is preferred. A valid driver’s license and a DOT file must be maintained. Teamwork and attentiveness are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow safety instructions and procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for a fast-paced team environment.
• Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.

Responsibilities

• Moves trailers between yard areas and doors as part of yard switching.
• Coordinates trailer movements with management/central control.
• Documents trailer moves using switcher cards or Yard Management System.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Assist with package handling duties, including loading and unloading.
• Loads/unloads packages onto vehicles and sorts by conveyor/read labels.
• Lifts and carries packages for two to four hours per shift.
